Common Questions

Q. Do I need to visit the Ministry office at Keshar Mahal?

No! The NOC process in Nepal is now fully digital. You apply online, pay online, and download the digitally signed e-NOC PDF directly from your portal. You only visit the office in rare cases of document discrepancy or manual audit.

Q. Is NOC mandatory for studying in India?

Yes! NOC is strictly required by banks in Nepal to send tuition fees to universities in India, particularly for professional courses like MBBS, BDS, Engineering, and BSc Nursing.

Q. What if my foreign university is not in the dropdown list?

You can submit a 'Request to Add Institution' through the NOC portal, uploading the university's accreditation profile, brochure, and official website URL. The MoEST team usually registers and adds it within 2-3 business days.

Q. How long is my NOC certificate valid?

An NOC does not expire, but it is valid only for the specific institution, course, and educational level for which it was originally issued. If you change your major or university, you must apply for a new NOC.

Q. Can my parents pay the tuition fee from the bank with my NOC?

Yes, your parents or legal guardians can visit any authorized commercial bank in Nepal with your passport, offer letter, and printed NOC to perform the bank wire transfer.
